Whicked: A Day in the Life

I wiped down the booze stained bar with a huff,  my eyes skirting over the crowd as I did, checking for anyone looking to get served.  All eyes were on the DJ, who was laying out some decent tracks tonight for a change. I straightened up and pushed my hair out of my face and threw the cloth behind me into the bar’s sink and smoothed down my bartenders apron,  my hands moving to rest on my hips. A guy approached, a smirk dancing over his features as his eyes locked onto me. Great, just what I needed tonight, a Justin Bieber wannabe that thought I was just gonna drop my panties and lay on my back for him because he was packing in the trouser department. He made a bee line straight for me and I groaned.  I looked up the length of the bar and spotted Khara coming down the bar, her raven locks tied back into a high pony, a smile permanently plastered to her face. I caiught her eye and she smiled at me. I gave a sideways glance to Mr Not So Bieberific and gave a pleading glance back at Khara. She nodded ever so slightly and I took the opportunity to bail back to the stock room.  I could hear the guy begin to ask Khara what my name was and she shut him down instantly* “Sorry guy, my girl just ain’t that into you.”

Truth was,  I just wasn’t that into anyone, not recently anyway.  It wasn’t a big deal, I just had better things to focus on, like getting out of this shitheap and getting my own piece of the pie,  my very own club. I didn’t have time to have a male in my life, shit I barely had time for my few close friends. Khara was always at me to get out and get laid but it simply didn’t interest me.  I just kept telling myself that once I had what I wanted, then maybe I could relax a little, maybe find someone I wanted to let in, but I knew I was just fooling myself. Males were a distraction I simply didn’t want or need in my life,  and nothing was going to change my mind on that, ever.
